EP2210 - Performance analysis of
communication networks
FEP3210+FEP3215 - Advanced performance analysis, graduate course
Period 1 2010, 7.5 ECTS
Graduate course: period 1-2 2009, 9+3 ECTS
Eligible for advanced undergraduate
students,
for student in the International Masters Program in Network Systems and Services
and in Wireless Systems and
for graduate students
The course focuses on modeling and
analyzing communication networks, network protocols and applications, using
mathematical tools. It is designed for advanced undergraduates and graduate
students. By the end of the course students will be able to construct tractable
models of complex networking problems and attack performance problems with
analytical methods. These abilities are necessary for everyone working on
technical fields - to understand the capabilities of specific technologies and
the success or failure of new trends. The course covers many of the significant
research papers of the area, presenting different techniques of modeling and
performance evaluation. Topics include the discussion of traffic descriptions and
performance measures, the evaluation of congestion control, fairness and
scheduling solutions, and techniques for reliable multimedia communication.
Students who select the course as selective
course, have to contact the course responsible for admission.
